NYC's Next Largest Mural

The largest mural in NYC, covering two exterior walls of Griffin Court Condominium at 800 Tenth Ave., begins tomorrow!
Corrinne Ulmann’s winning mural depicts a pattern of trees using variations of light and shadow intended to evoke the building’s 8,700-square-foot private courtyard and the nearby DeWitt Clinton Park. The mural will cover two large exterior walls of the two-building condominium complex, each measuring 1,800 and 4,700 square feet.
In addition to having her design overlooking NYC’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, Corinne will receive a $20,000 stipend, an art show hosted by Alchemy Properties at the building to display her works, a private consultation with a top art dealer, and a display of her work in the building’s lobby..Photo above -rendering of the mural- events to come - might have to just visit NYC soon -

Nicole is helping NYC

This might look like one of the cast members of Gossip Girl thinking about what to order at Butter but it is my friend Nicole. She is currently living and working in NYC and when I visit I force her do things like seeing Xanadu or talking about Portland non stop. Nicole needs our help to keep New York pretty, she will do the dirty work-If you can spare a few dollars. Saturday, April 25 she will be rolling up her sleeves to give New York City a spring cleaning. Specifically, she'll be planting trees in the Bronx, to help "Million Trees NYC." New York Cares creates volunteer projects that meet pressing needs of the city. Volunteers read to kids, help adults re-enter the workforce, prepare meals for the homeless, visit lonely nursing home residents, and more. You know you love Nicole xoxo Click to visit her personal site & efforts to support New York Cares, Inc. nycares.org

holcombe waller is very busy

Portland is so lucky to have Holcombe Waller. (I think he calls us home & I assume he then is owned by PDX) He could really be anywhere with his iphone, his amazing voice and could attract a crowd. I got to meet him just over a year ago in NYC at Joe's Pub. He is playing Portland at the end of the month. I heard a rumor that he is playing on April 20 at cafe du Nord for my Cali friends. (Solo piano show)

Max ain't no Cheyenne they say

In a recent NYM interview with Cheyenne Jackson- a question and "No Comment" response was not posted according to NYCC friend who has some inside scoops.  Nothing on how  Max Von Essen is doing in the role of Sonny Malone?  Cheyenne sing an ELO song or anything from Xanadu, or mention you had fun with the role.  Good luck at Feinstein's.  Please come back to Northwest soon.
