(rehearsal snap shot, xoxo)
I just heard from a California friend that there is some extra moving and shaking in Berkeley. Lisa Wymore, of San Francisco-based dance/theater company Smith/Wymore Disappearing Acts is directing a four-piece production titled Equal Footing. Each work will explore the relationship between musicality and the danced body. Collaborations include award-winning bay area choreographer Joe Goode and cellist Joan Jeanrenaud (founding member of the Kronos Quartet), Lisa Wymore and her performers, Annie Rosenthal Parr and composer Sheldon Smith, and a special work in conjunction with legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham's residency at UC Berkeley. The latter will present excerpts of Cunningham's choreography and music composed by graduate students from the Berkeley Music Department and Center for New Music and Audio Technology. The show runs April 17-26 at Zellerbach Playhouse in Berkeley, CA. So who's in?
