Mozart Requiem in D minor

*I must shop this weekend for something black to wear to Portland Symphonic Choir and Portland Sinfonietta's big upcoming concert of Mozart's Requiem on March 2oth at 7.30pm. I love the great work of Mozart- this youtube clip gets me in the mood. Amadeus must be one of my favorite movies and theatrical productions. Mark Petersen explained in an email, "Three companion works will be presented in one seamless evening of Mozartian reflection. The Kyrie in D Minor, presented at the beginning, is thought to be the first movement of a Mass that was never completed and is the early work that later was developed into The Requiem in D Minor. The centerpiece of the concert is the Requiem, which flows from the sadness and weight of the orchestral opening of the Requiem aeterna to the rage in the Rex tremendae to the resolution of the Lux aeterna. The concert ends with the sanguine Ave verum corpus, a quiet contemplative piece that is loved the world over." And lets hope Steven Zopfi picks out something less dramatic as last Fall's Faure's Requiem.

  4. I will be wearing all black in the form of a tuxedo. I sing in the Bass II section. It will be a great concert, though solemn. We are also singing Mozart's "Ave verum corpus." See you there!--oscar.
